VIP Lounge at DIFF

Dubai, United Arab Emirates

VIP Lounge Martin Sheen DIFF

Ever wonder what a VIP celebrity treatment would be like? All last week during Dubai International Film Festival, Al Qasr Hotel opened the VIP Lounge, a suite showcasing numerous UAE based brands for the celebrity guests from around the world. The Movie Blogbuster team got a peek inside the lounge, and was able to check out some of the VIP products. Although there were many different brands, from Rivoli’s Eyezone to David Morris jewelry, these were some of our favorite brands that we think readers will enjoy.

One of the first treats we came across was the delicious Tavalon tea. Originally from New York, Tavalon is expanding to the Middle East where it will bring its unique premium loose tea blends. Right now, Tavalon is offered at the Supperclub Dubai restaurant, but will soon be available to order online. If you get the chance, be sure to taste their black tea blend NYC Breakfast, or their relaxing herbal tea Serenity.

Next we were able to speak with leading manicure/pedicure innovator Bastien Gonzalez of Pedi:Mani:Cure Studio. While innovation may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of hand and foot treatments, Bastien is surely changing that. His background as a French Podiatrist led him to create his treatment technique which blends medical healing methods along with an approach to spa relaxation. Bastien’s passion and skill has made him acclaimed around the world, allowing him to work on celebrities from the Cannes International Film Festival to Dubai International Film Festival. Having trained a skilled staff here in Dubai, his manicure/pedicure treatments are now offered at the One&Only The Palm, and Royal Mirage resorts here in Dubai.

Along with the exclusive spa treatments of Bastien Gonzalez is the luxury haircare products from Miriam Quevedo. An absolutely prestigious brand, Miriam Quevedo helped style the hair of celebrities during DIFF like Rooney Mara and Martin Sheen. The products range from shampoos and masks, to elixirs and oils. All of them contain a special blend of caviar and nourishing oils. You can pick up products from the collection from Bloomingdales, Harvey Nichols, Saks Fifth Avenue, and selected Areej and Faces stores across the UAE.

If you are looking for something more casual, but still want a taste of what the celebs experienced at the VIP Lounge, try some of the exquisite camel milk chocolates from Al nassma. Al nassma had a glorious chocolate fountain and an enormous 15kg solid chocolate camel statue at their station to showcase their brand. But all that you really need to be impressed is a taste of their delectable chocolates. We were given a taste of their macadamia-orange bar, date bar, and plain chocolate in small camel statue form. With quality camel milk (which is stated to be more nutritious than cow’s milk), acacia honey, and rich bourbon vanilla, you are sure to enjoy whatever flavor you try. Al nassma chocolates are available at Bateel in Dubai Mall, and online at www.al-nassma.com.

Last on our tour, but right on track with all that DIFF stands for, was Yasemin Richie’s display of her art work entitled Storylines. Yasemin remarkably creates her art by choosing a film, and then compressing thousands of its frames into a chronological palette of dreamlike colors. She calls her work “the essence of a film”. While she is available for custom made to order pieces, she created ten one of a kind pieces for DIFF from movies like Star Wars, Scarface, and Avatar. You can view or purchase her work from Bloomingdales Home in Dubai, or contact her for a custom piece of your favorite film at yaseminrichie.com.

Even though DIFF is over, and the VIP Lounge won’t return until next year, if you happen to live in the UAE, or frequent the area, be sure to take advantage of these brands whenever you’re in need of a celebrity treatment!
